Objective:
SWBAT simulate a Congressional Committee by discussing and evaluating legislative proposals submitted by members of our ECongress.
Warm-up:
Go to the Bill Review Guide in Schoology in the Resource Folder for this week. After reading through the discussion points, log into the YLI Student Portal using the link provided. Remember that your login and password are as follows:
- login - firstnamelastname (no caps, no spaces)
- password - 6hhs22
Classwork:
- Please discuss the bills you have been assigned with your table group.
- After discussing the bills, take an informal vote.
- Each person should comment on at least one bill, with the group's decision and reasoning.
- Be prepared to present your bills and share your recommendations.
- Once your table shares, we will have a full class discussion and vote.
- The final vote by the full class will reflect our decision. If it contradicts the subcommittee recommendations, new comments reflecting the full committee decision must be submitted by the your table.
- When we are finished, I will review the comments and advance the bills as recommended by the majority.
- Your comments will represent your participation in today's lesson.
