This process is impacted by several factors, including our family, friends, neighborhood, school, religious affiliation and media interaction. Reflect on your own political socialization. Federalism Project:
Your group has been assigned a contemporary issue related to federalism, which you are to research, describe, explain, analyze, and evaluate using the inquiry questions as a guide. Everyone in the group should be familiar with the overall policy topic. At the same time, individuals will focus on the historical context, federal law, state laws, Constitutional issues/Court cases, interest groups, and current events associated with the topic. Content depth and accuracy, responsiveness to inquiry questions, appropriate integration of Unit 1 Vocabulary, as well as engaging, original presentations (PPT) are all essential to the success of this project. Please refer to the rubric and my sample project for clarification. This assignment can be found in the Week of 10/19-10/23 Activities Folder in Schoology.

Objective:SWBAT demonstrate an understanding of terms and concepts related to the Foundations of Democracy. Warm-up:Install the College Board Lockdown Browser to your computer. There are instructions specific to county issued computers and personal computers posted in the Resource Folder for the Week of 10/12-10/16 in Schoology. Follow those directions explicitly, as the test will NOT be accessible to you without the Lockdown Browser. Unit 1 TestGo to your AP Government Classroom through My AP College Board. The Multiple Choice Test has 20 questions with 25 minutes for completion. Once finished with it, proceed to the Unit 1 FRQ which has been assigned to you. You will have 20 minutes to complete the FRQ. Homework:Begin the process of locating, summarizing, analyzing and evaluating one Current Event related to Unit 1 concepts. A browser search of vocabulary words specific to news will net many results. Additionally, the Flipster app provided by HHS gives access to several resources for current events. Instructions for accessing it are available in the Resource Folder under HHS Online Resources. You must integrate multiple vocabulary words throughout your current event, making sure to bold, highlight or underline them for ease of identification. Your final product can be copied directly into the discussion board so that access is streamlined for comments. Once again, you are expected to comment on two current events and respond to a comment that was made on yours. If no comment is made on yours, comment on a third current event or add to another discussion thread. Your current event is a product grade and your discussion posts are a process grade. Log into the MyAP College Board site and find the assigned Unit 1 Multiple Choice Progress Check. This assignment is required and will be scored for completion. The Unit 1 FRQs are extra credit but highly recommended as you will face both multiple choice questions and an FRQ when taking the Unit 1 Test Thursday/Friday. All assignments related to Unit 1 are due prior to the Unit Test so if you have any missing assignments they must be completed between now and then.

Constitutional Principles and Overview:
