Warm-up:
Buttons bearing a candidate's message have been in the campaign toolkit since the mid-1800's. How much can a button tell you about a candidate? Examine each of the buttons carefully, making note of the pictures, words, expressions, symbolism. For each button have two factual observations and an inference to match that observation. In other words, what message is the candidate trying to send by including that fact?
